FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Registration

Is registration required, or can I just show up on the day of the event?

To paddle, registration is required.  You can, however, show up as a spectator and enjoy all the festivities!

Do I need a State Park Pass?

If you are a registered participant, you do NOT need a park pass.  A special rate pass is included in the Chatfield events contract.  Spectators will need a pass.

Can I modify or cancel my registration after I've signed up?

We can accommodate some minor modifications but this is a non-refundable and non-transferrable event.

Are there any registration deadlines?

Yes!  Registration will close as soon as we reach event capacity OR on August 13th.

Safety

Do I need SUP experience?

Due to the unpredictable nature of Colorado weather in October, it is strongly advised to have a decent amount of stand-up paddle-boarding experience under your belt.

Can I bring my child with me on my board?

The short answer is yes, if they are registered.  The safe answer is…as long as you’re comfortable with them on your board and they can follow your instructions.

Are pets allowed?

Unfortunately, not right now.  But I’ll be looking into modifications to make it happen.

How do you know who is on and off the water?

Everyone participating in the Witch Paddle MUST scan on and off the water by walking through the chutes with there trackers on.  It’s run like a 5k with the mats you walk over.  We will have fencing up where there will only be certain entry and exit points to make sure we can account for every person within our event.

Event Info

What time should I arrive?

I recommend you get to Chatfield State Park around 7 am, grab a parking spot, and come up to grab your registration pack, then return to your car to grab your board and finalize any costume arrangements.

What do I need to bring?
  • Your own SUP or rent one before the event through one of our partners.
  • A warm change of clothes
  • Wetsuit under your costume
  • Neoprene booties (these are epic especially since the sand is gravely at chatfield)
  • Come in costume or change on site
  • Board Decorations if that’s your thing
  • $ for food truck and vendors
